Seat Mii rough running and starting issues

My Seat Mii, built in , with a gasoline engine, is giving me headaches. The engine sometimes doesn't start, stalls at idle, the check engine light is on, engine running is rough, and I'm seeing higher fuel consumption. An error is stored in the error memory. Could this be pump failure? I suspect it's a cable issue.

Given the symptoms, a faulty fuel pump is plausible. Has the fuel filter been checked recently? Also, what's the fuel pressure at the fuel rail?

It was a defective cable. The shop confirmed it with a multimeter. I replaced the cable and plug, and gasoline delivery is restored. Car performance is back to normal. The repair cost was 95€, thanks for pointing me in the right direction.
