Seat Mii throttle valve issue

I am writing to inquire about an issue I am experiencing with my 2017 Seat Mii. The car has a gasoline engine. I suspect the throttle valve might be defective. I have noticed higher fuel consumption than usual, and the vehicle has been starting poorly lately. Could this be due to the throttle valve? Or perhaps even a defective accelerator pedal module?

Summary of the thread

The conversation centers around a 2017 Seat Mii experiencing higher fuel consumption and poor starting, suspected to be due to a defective throttle valve. Possible causes discussed include a faulty throttle position sensor, air intake leaks, or a defective accelerator pedal module. The suggested solution was to have the vehicle diagnosed at a workshop, where it was confirmed that the throttle valve was defective, likely due to the accelerator pedal module, leading to successful repairs.

I had a similar issue with my Mii. It might be worth checking the throttle position sensor as well. Sometimes a faulty reading there can cause similar symptoms. Have you checked for any air intake leaks? Also, what does the engine idle sound like? Any unusual noises?

Thank you for your reply. Where can I find the throttle position sensor and how can I check for air intake leaks? Also, the engine idle is a bit rough. Could that be related?

Yes, a rough engine idle definitely points towards an issue with the throttle valve or air intake. Regarding your question, the throttle position sensor is usually attached directly to the throttle body. Checking for air intake leaks can be tricky without proper equipment, it could involve smoke testing. Given the symptoms and my experience, I'd recommend taking it to a workshop for a proper diagnosis.

Thank you for the advice. I took it to a local workshop and they confirmed that the throttle valve was indeed defective, likely due to a faulty accelerator pedal module. The total repair cost me 205€. The car is now running much better.
