Seat Mii Undervoltage Issue

Alright, car gurus, I'm officially stumped. My 2016 Seat Mii with a gasoline engine is throwing a fit. It's got about 83963 km on the clock. The main problem is undervoltage. Basically, it struggles to start, all sorts of system failure warnings pop up, lights are dim or flicker, and the battery seems weak when starting. Could this be a dead battery, or am I looking at something worse with the power supply?

Summary of the thread

The 2016 Seat Mii was experiencing undervoltage issues, leading to starting difficulties, system failure warnings, and dim or flickering lights. The likely cause was identified as a heavily discharged or defective battery, possibly due to an aging battery or issues with the charging system. The recommended solution was to have the battery health tested and potentially replaced, which resolved the problem after a visit to a mechanic.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Hey! I had something similar happen with my Seat Mii. Kept getting weird electrical faults and the engine turned over slowly. Have you checked the battery voltage? Could be a simple battery health issue. What does it read when the engine is off?

Battery voltage... hmm, I don't have a multimeter or anything. Where exactly would I check that, and what voltage am I looking for? And what do you mean by charging system? Sorry for all the questions, electrics are not my thing.

Yeah, without a multimeter, it's tricky to diagnose. I'd say based on your symptoms, especially the weak starting and flickering lights, it's highly likely to be a heavily discharged or defective battery. The charging system keeps the battery topped up while the engine is running. If the battery is failing, the charging system struggles. Best bet is to get the battery health properly tested, which most garages should do. If it's the original battery, it's probably time for a new one anyway. I would advise a workshop visit.

Thanks a bunch for the help! I took it to a local mechanic, and you were spot on. It was the battery. A new one and a bit of charging system check later, and she's running like new. Cost me about 290€, but it's worth it to not have all those error lights flashing. Cheers!
