Seat Tarraco Camshaft Sensor Problem

My 2022 Seat Tarraco with a gasoline engine is giving me fits. It's been starting poorly, and I've noticed a definite reduction in engine power. I plugged in an OBD reader, and it's throwing a code related to the camshaft sensor. I'm thinking it's probably a defective camshaft position sensor, maybe something with the timing. Could it just be the cable or plug connection? Any thoughts?

Sounds like a camshaft position sensor issue. I had a similar problem with my Tarraco. Stalling engine, engine misfire, and all the fun that comes with it. Check the wiring and the plug connection to the sensor itself. Sometimes it's just a loose or corroded connection. It's like a loose wire on a lamp, it flickers and causes problems.

When you say similar, do you mean the exact same symptoms? Because I've also got reduced engine power and an error stored in the memory. And when you say check the wiring, what exactly am I looking for? Is there a specific wire I should be paying extra attention to?

Yes, exact same symptoms: poor start, reduced power, the whole shebang. The error code cinched it for me. As for the wiring, check for any obvious breaks, frays, or corrosion. Give the connector a wiggle while the engine is running (carefully, of course) and see if anything changes. But honestly, if you're not comfortable digging around in there, it might be best to take it to a mechanic. Could save you from making timing issues worse or causing bigger headaches.

Turns out you were spot on. A local mechanic found a loose connection on the camshaft sensor. They cleaned it and secured it. Runs great now, and the error code is gone. Cost 95€, which is better than a new camshaft. Thanks for the help!
