Thanks for the quick reply! How did you pinpoint the fuel rail pressure sensor on your Volvo? Did you also have engine misfires?

Indeed, engine misfires were also present, though less frequent than the rough idle. The mechanic initially suspected a blockage in the fuel line or a faulty fuel pump. However, after extensive diagnostics, including monitoring the fuel pressure sensor readings in real-time, the erratic data pointed towards a failing pressure sensor. Given that your issue arose post fuel filter replacement, there's a possibility that air entered the system or the sensor was disturbed. I would suggest a comprehensive diagnostic check at a reputable workshop to confirm the error and rule out other potential causes.

Just to let you know, I got it sorted. The garage cleared the error and checked the fuel pressure regulator. Turns out it was just a glitch after changing the fuel filter. Cost me 45€ for the diagnostic. Thanks again for the advice!

Your issue sounds remarkably similar to a problem I encountered some time ago with my Volvo V70, also a diesel. I experienced intermittent rough idle and the check engine light illuminated, accompanied by a noticeable reduction in engine power. We suspected a faulty fuel rail pressure sensor. Have you checked the sensor readings? Do you have access to a diagnostic tool to monitor the fuel pressure while the engine is running?
