Seat Tarraco Diesel Engine Power Loss
Summary of the thread
A 2023 Seat Tarraco diesel experienced a significant drop in engine power and a check engine light, suspected to be caused by a faulty chip tuning performed by a previous owner. The auto scanner indicated a fault code related to the ECU. The issue was resolved by taking the vehicle to a workshop where the ECU was reflashed, eliminating the power loss and dashboard warning.

Yeah, my auto scanner gave me a fault code related to the ECU. You mentioned chip tuning. What exactly went wrong with yours?

Mine was definitely the chip tuning. The previous owner had it 'optimized' by some third-party outfit, and it messed with the ECU parameters. The garage told me it's a common engine issue when these tunes aren't done properly. Best bet is to get it checked at a proper workshop, they can probably reflash the ECU.

Took it to the shop, and they confirmed the check engine light was due to a faulty chip tune. They reflashed the ECU, and the engine issue and dashboard light are gone. Cost me 180€. Thanks again for the heads up!

Sounds like a pain! I had a similar engine issue with my old Renault Megane. Reduced power, dashboard light on, the works. I plugged in an auto scanner, and it threw up a load of error codes. Does your scan tool show anything specific?
