Seat Tarraco Diesel Engine Running Lean

I'm experiencing some issues with my 2019 Seat Tarraco with a diesel engine. It has around 186239 km on the clock. The engine seems to be running too lean. I've noticed reduced engine power, and the check engine light is now constantly on. The engine also runs rough, and it jerks a bit when accelerating. From what I've read, it could be a defective injection valve or injector. Has anyone else experienced this?

Summary of the thread

A 2019 Seat Tarraco with a diesel engine is experiencing issues such as reduced power, a constantly illuminated check engine light, rough running, and jerking during acceleration, indicating the engine is running lean. Possible causes include a defective injection valve or injector, a faulty oxygen sensor, mass air flow sensor, or EGR valve. The problem was diagnosed as a faulty fuel injector, which, once replaced, resolved the issues, restoring smooth engine performance.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Reduced engine power, rough running, and the check engine light – sounds familiar. I also own a Tarraco, and I experienced something similar a while back. Have you checked the oxygen sensor or the mass air flow sensor? A faulty EGR valve could also be the culprit. Could you specify which engine your Tarraco has?

Thanks for the quick response. I haven't checked the oxygen sensor or mass air flow sensor yet. The engine is a diesel. When you had a similar issue, what exactly was the cause in your case?

Yes, mine was a fuel injector issue. It started with similar symptoms to yours. Given that you also have a diesel engine and the mileage is relatively high, I'd say it's quite possible that you have a failing fuel injector. I would suggest taking it to a workshop to get a proper diagnosis, as it requires specialized equipment.

Took the Tarraco to the workshop, and you were spot on. It was a faulty fuel injector. After replacing it, the engine runs smoothly again. The total cost was 515€. Thanks for the help.
