Seat Tarraco Diesel Preheating Lamp Issue

I'm experiencing a persistent issue with my 2021 Seat Tarraco diesel. The vehicle has approximately 174787 km on the clock. Lately, the preheating lamp on the dashboard refuses to switch off after starting the engine. Furthermore, I scanned the error memory and found a corresponding error related to the glow plugs. Based on my research, a defective glow plug seems like the most likely culprit. Has anyone else encountered a similar problem? I'm trying to gauge what I'm up against in terms of repair costs and potential complications. I am also concerned about fuel efficiency, rough idle, and the check engine being on, as these are possible symptoms.

Whoa, sounds familiar! I had a similar issue with my Tarraco. The preheating light stayed on forever, and the engine light popped up too. I even noticed a slight engine misfire sometimes, especially when it was cold. Did you notice any difference in fuel efficiency or a rough idle? It could be the glow plugs, like you suspected.

Yes, I also experienced the engine light. You mentioned an engine misfire. Was it noticeable, and under what conditions did it occur? Did you also notice any other symptoms besides the preheating lamp and the engine light?

Yeah, the misfire was subtle, almost like a slight hesitation, but definitely noticeable when the engine was cold and under load, like going uphill. Honestly, after fiddling around myself for a bit, I just took it to a workshop. Glow plugs can be a pain to get to, and I didn't want to risk messing anything else up. Save yourself the headache and just get it checked out. You'll probably be back on the road in no time!

Thank you for sharing your experience! It sounds like our issues were very similar. I took it to a trusted workshop, and they confirmed it was indeed a faulty glow plug. After replacing it, the preheating lamp now switches off as expected, and the error is gone. The final bill came to about 440€, which is a bit steep, but worth it to have the car running smoothly again.
