Seat Tarraco EGR Issues

Thank you for your insights. I will definitely have the catalytic converter checked. Regarding the hissing, it does seem to increase with RPM. When you experienced this issue with your Tarraco, was it consistently reproducible, or did it occur intermittently? Also, did you observe any smoke being emitted during acceleration?

The hissing increasing with RPM is very telling, and the smoke points strongly towards the EGR valve. In my case, it started intermittently but quickly became a constant problem. Considering the mileage and symptoms, I would strongly advise having the EGR valve professionally diagnosed and potentially replaced. It is possible to attempt cleaning the valve, but a lasting solution usually requires replacement. I suggest going to a workshop.

I appreciate you confirming my suspicions. I took the Tarraco to a reputable workshop, and they confirmed the EGR valve was indeed defective. The repair, including a new valve and labor, amounted to 355€. The car is now running smoothly again. Thank you for your time and expertise.

The symptoms you describe do align with a potential EGR valve issue. I had similar problems with my Tarraco – reduced power, rough idle, and the check engine light illuminated. Has the catalytic converter been checked, as a faulty EGR can impact its efficiency? Also, does the hissing sound change with engine RPM? The check engine light could also indicate other issues, such as problems related to diesel engines.
