Seat Tarraco Engine Stalling at Idle

Thanks for the quick reply! I did check the gas cap; it seems fine. The purge valve... I haven't touched that. Where is that located, and how would I check it? As for the codes, I don't have an OBD scanner, so I'm not sure what codes it's throwing. I was hoping it was something simple before I take it in.

Okay, without the codes, it's tougher to pinpoint. But based on your description and suspicion of the tank ventilation, clogged hoses are a definite possibility. It’s all part of the EVAP system, which handles fuel vapor emissions. If those hoses are blocked, it can create pressure issues and cause the engine to stall. Honestly, without knowing the codes and not having experience with the purge valve, I'd recommend taking it to a trusted mechanic. They can diagnose it properly and avoid you potentially messing something else up. It’s likely a relatively simple fix within the emission system, but best to get it done right. Good luck!

Just wanted to close the loop. You were spot on. Took it to the workshop, and it turned out to be clogged hoses in the tank ventilation valve. They cleared it out, and the engine light is gone, and the stalling stopped. Cost me 175€ Thanks for the help!

Stalling at idle and an engine light? Sounds like a pain. That could be a few things, but since you mention the tank ventilation, let's start there. Have you checked your gas cap? A loose or faulty one can mess with the EVAP system and throw a code. Also, how old is your purge valve? I had a similar issue on my old Passat where the purge valve was stuck open and causing a vacuum leak. Made it run rough at idle. What trouble codes are you getting?
