Seat Tarraco Engine Stalling At Idle

I'm having some trouble with my 2021 Seat Tarraco. It's a gasoline engine. Recently, the check engine light came on, and I'm getting an error code related to the idle air control valve. The main symptom is that the engine stalls at idle, which is obviously pretty annoying. I've tried cleaning the throttle body, but that didn't seem to help. I suspect the intake might be heavily contaminated. Any ideas?

Sounds familiar. I had a similar engine stalling issue with my old BMW 3 series. Also related to idle control. Did you check for any vacuum leaks? Those can mess with the idle speed and cause the IAC valve to act up.

Thanks for the suggestion. I visually inspected the vacuum lines, but didn't find any obvious cracks. Is there a more reliable way to check for leaks? Maybe with some kind of spray?

Sprays can work, but are not always reliable. Given that you've already cleaned the throttle body and suspect intake contamination, it might be worth getting it professionally diagnosed. A smoke test would be the most reliable way to check for leaks, and a mechanic can also properly assess the IAC valve itself. Best of luck!

I took it to a shop and they confirmed it was a heavily contaminated intake causing the idle air control valve to malfunction. They cleaned everything up and replaced the IAC valve. Total cost was 425€. Runs like new now!
