That is interesting. When your Volvo had this 'memory lock' issue, did it also stem from suspected undervoltage, and did you perform any automotive diagnostics yourself before addressing it? I am trying to gauge how similar our situations are. Any additional details about your experience would be appreciated, as I am trying to determine the best course of action before potentially expensive auto repair measures.

Yes, undervoltage was the root cause in my case as well. I initially tried some basic troubleshooting, but automotive diagnostics quickly pointed to battery issues. Honestly, unless you have access to proper ECU diagnostics tools, I would recommend taking it to a workshop. A memory lock issue can be tricky, and you do not want to risk damaging the computer system further.

Thank you for your insight! I took your advice and brought it to a reliable workshop. The automotive diagnostics confirmed undervoltage had indeed triggered the memory lock. They cleared the fault memory and addressed the undervoltage issue. The ECU diagnostics after that was clean. Cost me about 240€, but at least the computer system is now functioning properly.

I had a similar issue with my old Volvo a while back. The fault memory lock kept triggering, and it was a pain. Have you checked the battery and charging system? Undervoltage can definitely cause all sorts of weird electrical gremlins in modern vehicles.
