Seat Tarraco fuel issue

The smoke smells a bit like unburnt fuel, I think petrol. I haven't checked the fuel filter myself to be honest. Where exactly is it located on the Tarraco? And yes, the engine management light is on.

Okay, unburnt fuel smell and the engine management light being on pretty much confirm that there's an issue with the injection system. While a fuel filter issue is possible, the light suggests a more specific fault the car's computer has detected. Given the potential for cable/plug issues as you mentioned, and the fact the engine management light is on, probably best to get it checked by a workshop. They'll be able to properly diagnose the specific fault code and pinpoint the exact location of the defective connection.

Took it to the workshop. They checked the cable and plug connections as suspected. It was indeed a defective connection. 95€ later, all sorted. Thanks for your help!

Hmm, that sounds tricky. Higher fuel consumption and stalling definitely point to a fuel issue. Does the smoke smell strongly of petrol, or is it more of a diesel-like smell? Have you checked the fuel filter recently? A clogged filter can cause similar symptoms. Also, is the engine management light on the dash illuminated?
