Seat Tarraco handsfree microphone problem

My 2023 Seat Tarraco hybrid engine is giving me grief. The hands-free microphone packed it in at 102222 km. Telephony is completely dead, and the error memory has flagged something. I'm suspecting a defective infotainment system. Anyone else run into this? It's driving me nuts because I make a lot of calls while driving.

I had a similar issue with my Ateca! The sound quality went bad and then the microphone just died. Started noticing it after about 80000 km. Have you checked the audio system settings? Sometimes the ambient noise cancellation goes haywire and messes things up. Just a thought!

So, when your microphone died, did you also get an error code? And did the whole audio system act weird, or was it just the microphone? I am trying to figure out if it is something that I can fix myself.

Yep, error code was there alright! The whole audio input just went kaput. I messed around with it for ages, but in the end, I took it to the shop. Best bet is to get it checked out by someone who knows these audio systems. Could be a dodgy connection, but it sounds like more than just a simple microphone repair.

Took it to the dealer as suggested. They confirmed the infotainment system was faulty. Cost me 815€, which stings, but at least the hands-free is working again. They mentioned something about a software glitch causing the audio input to fail. Thanks for the advice, I appreciate it!
