Seat Tarraco Hybrid Engine Issues

I'm experiencing a rather concerning issue with my 2022 Seat Tarraco hybrid. I've noticed the check engine light illuminating intermittently, accompanied by engine stalls at idle and a distinct engine knock. Upon consulting the error memory, it indicates an incorrect fuel composition. Furthermore, the system suggests a potentially defective cable or plug connection as the likely culprit. Has anyone else encountered a similar problem? Could this be 'wrong fuel' related even though I always use the correct fuel?

Summary of the thread

A 2022 Seat Tarraco hybrid is experiencing intermittent check engine light activation, engine stalls at idle, and a distinct engine knock. The error memory indicates an incorrect fuel composition and suggests a potentially defective cable or plug connection as the cause. A similar issue was resolved by addressing a loose connection, and a workshop confirmed that a defective plug connection was causing the incorrect fuel mixture reading and engine knock. After repair, the vehicle is running smoothly again.

Interesting issue. I also have a Seat Tarraco, though I'm not sure about the hybrid part since mine's just petrol. I did have similar symptoms a while back – check engine light, stalling. Could it be the fuel system? Did you happen to check the fuel mixture? I'm just curious, did you already read out the error memory?

When you experienced those symptoms, did the error memory also point towards an incorrect fuel composition? And did it also mention anything about a defective cable or plug connection as a possible cause?

Yes, the error memory pointed towards a similar fuel mixture issue. Although, I can't recall the exact error message, it definitely mentioned something related to the fuel system and combustion chamber. I'm not too tech-savvy, but my mechanic found a loose connection. I'd suggest taking it to a workshop. They should be able to diagnose it properly.

Thank you for sharing your experience. That confirms my suspicion regarding the electrical connections. I took it to the workshop, and you were spot on. They found a defective plug connection causing the incorrect fuel mixture reading and creating the engine knock. 95€ later, and the Tarraco is running smoothly again.
