Seat Tarraco Hybrid Engine Knocking
Summary of the thread
A 2021 Seat Tarraco hybrid developed engine knocking, characterized by reduced power, jerking during acceleration, and smoke from the exhaust. The issue was suspected to be caused by deposits in the combustion chamber. A similar experience suggested that these symptoms could be linked to pre-ignition or detonation. The problem was resolved by cleaning the combustion chamber, restoring the vehicle's performance.

Interesting. When you had the issue, were the symptoms identical? Specifically, the smoke during acceleration. And did a diagnostic tool also point towards combustion-related problems?

Yes, the symptoms match. I had the smoke too, and the error code pointed to misfires which the mechanic attributed to the combustion issue. Best to get it checked professionally. Don't keep driving it like that, you could cause more damage.

Appreciate the input. Took it to a trusted mechanic. Turns out you were spot on about the combustion chamber deposits. They cleaned it up, and the Tarraco is running smoothly again. Cost me 425€, but definitely worth it to get rid of that engine knock and restore the power. Thanks!

Sounds like pre-ignition or detonation, a classic engine knock. I had something similar with my Tarraco. Does it feel like piston slap? Worth checking the combustion chamber for carbon deposits. That could easily explain the loss of power and the jerking.
