Seat Tarraco Starting Issue

I have a 2021 Seat Tarraco with a gasoline engine, around 189222 km on the clock. Lately, I've been having a starting issue. Sometimes the engine won't start at all, other times it shuts off while driving, and sometimes it runs rough. The dashboard light seems normal. I'm suspecting the ignition switch, but I'm not sure. Key turn does not have any effect sometimes. Any ideas?

I understand you are experiencing issues with your Seat Tarraco. The symptoms you describe – engine failing to start, unexpected engine shutdowns, and rough engine running – do indeed point to potential problems within the ignition system. The interplay between the dashboard light, the ignition switch itself, and the starter motor is crucial for proper vehicle operation. Could you please provide more detail regarding the circumstances when the engine shuts off? Does it occur only at idle, or during acceleration as well? This additional information may help narrow down the possibilities.

The engine shuts off randomly, not only at idle, can happen during acceleration too. Do you think I should check the starter motor relay as well?

Given the random nature of the engine shutdowns, affecting both idle and acceleration, and considering the mileage, focusing on the fuse as the likely cause aligns with the symptoms you have described. While the starter motor relay could potentially be a contributing factor, a faulty ignition switch fuse is more probable and should be investigated first. However, due to the potential complexity of the modern automotive electrical system, I recommend consulting a qualified technician for a professional diagnosis and repair to avoid any unintended consequences.

It was a defective fuse linked to the ignition switch. I replaced it myself for 52€. Everything seems fine now. Appreciate the advice and confirmation.
