Seat Tarraco Sun Blind Failure

I'm officially pulling my hair out! The sun blind on my 2020 Seat Tarraco (gasoline engine) has completely given up the ghost. It's stuck halfway, refusing to retract or extend. Naturally, there's an error stored in the error memory. I'm guessing the motor's gone kaput, which is just fantastic. Anyone else experienced this with their interior accessory? Is it a DIY job, or am I looking at a hefty bill?

Summary of the thread

The sun blind on a 2020 Seat Tarraco failed, getting stuck halfway and triggering an error code. The issue was suspected to be a faulty motor, possibly due to a blocked motor or short circuit. A suggestion was made to check the wiring harness for loose connections, but ultimately, the motor was confirmed to be defective and required replacement at a garage. The repair restored the sun blind's functionality.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Sounds like a similar issue I had with the sun visor on my old BMW 3 series. The symptoms were identical: the car sunshade would get stuck, and an error code popped up. Have you checked the wiring harness going to the sun blind motor? Sometimes a loose connection can cause this behavior. Also, what error code are you seeing?

Interesting, a loose connection! I hadn't thought of that. Where exactly is the wiring harness located? And regarding the error code, I need to double-check, but I think it was something related to a blocked motor or a short circuit in the sun protection system. Does that sound familiar?

The wiring harness usually runs along the headliner, near the sun visor itself. As for the error code, a blocked motor or short circuit definitely points towards a faulty motor. Given the cost of a new sun blind and the potential hassle of fiddling with the headliner, I'd advise taking it to a workshop. You don't want to risk damaging other components.

I took the Tarraco to the local garage, and you were spot on. The motor on the sun blind was indeed toast. They quoted 330€ for the replacement, which I reluctantly agreed to. At least now the interior accessory is fully functional again, providing proper sun protection. Thanks for the heads up!
