Seat Toledo ABS Fault

I am writing to report a perplexing issue with my 2015 Seat Toledo diesel, which has accumulated 174686 km. The ABS lamp is illuminated, and the vehicle is exhibiting traction control anomalies, indicative of ABS system failure. A diagnostic scan suggests a speed signal fault, with the affected control unit being potentially defective. Has anyone encountered similar symptoms? I am trying to determine the most appropriate course of action before committing to a costly repair. Any insights regarding the speedometer malfunction, dashboard warnings, or diagnostic procedures would be greatly appreciated.

Summary of the thread

A 2015 Seat Toledo is experiencing an ABS fault, indicated by an illuminated ABS lamp and traction control issues. A diagnostic scan suggests a speed signal fault, potentially due to a defective control unit. While wheel speed sensors could be a simpler cause, the symptoms align more closely with a control unit failure. The recommended solution is to confirm the diagnosis with a workshop and consider replacing the control unit, despite the high cost.

I experienced a similar speedometer malfunction with my Seat Toledo, though I can't recall the exact year of manufacture. The dashboard lit up, and the ABS was indeed compromised. Have you checked the wheel speed sensors? Sometimes, a faulty sensor can trigger such errors. However, it does sound suspiciously like the ABS control unit. I recall experiencing similar traction problems.

Thank you for the insight. When you experienced this issue, were there any diagnostic trouble codes specifically pointing to a wheel speed sensor, or did the diagnostic information also suggest the control unit directly? I am attempting to ascertain whether the sensors are potentially providing incorrect input to the control unit, or if the unit itself is the primary source of the fault.

In my case, the diagnostic pointed directly to the control unit. While it's always wise to eliminate simpler possibilities like wheel speed sensors, the symptoms you describe align very closely with my experience. I'd suggest having a workshop confirm the diagnosis before proceeding with the control unit replacement. It's not a cheap repair, unfortunately, but it resolved the problem completely for me.

I appreciate you sharing your experience. It seems my suspicions regarding the control unit were correct. I have authorized the repair, and the estimated cost is approximately 1000€. Thank you again for confirming my diagnostic assessment.
