Seat Toledo auxiliary heater problem

I had a similar issue last winter. Check the temperature sensor. A faulty sensor can prevent the heater from starting. Also, check your coolant level because a leak can mess with the climate control system and auxiliary heater.

Did the temperature sensor throw a specific error code when you scanned yours? Was the coolant leak obvious, or did you need a pressure test?

The temperature sensor didn't throw a specific code, but it was giving erratic readings. The mechanic suspected it based on the symptoms and live data. The coolant leak wasn't massive, but I was topping it up every few weeks. Get it checked. If you suspect the glow plug, take it to a workshop because those auxiliary heaters can be hard to access.

You were spot on. My mechanic found a defective glow plug for the auxiliary heater. The bill was 440€, parts and labor. Thanks for the help.
