Seat Toledo Boost Pressure Problem
Summary of the thread
A 2004 Seat Toledo is experiencing boost pressure issues, indicated by a check engine light, reduced engine power, poor response, stalling at idle, increased fuel consumption, and unusual noises. The problem might be due to a defect in the wastegate valve, but a faulty pressure sensor connected to the throttle body is also suggested as a potential cause. Ultimately, the issue was confirmed to be the wastegate valve, which was replaced, resolving the problem.

Interesting analogy. So, the pressure sensor could be the problem even with the whistling and hissing noises? I was so focused on the wastegate, I didn't even consider the sensor. Where is that sensor located, and is there a way to test it?

The whistling and hissing could still be the wastegate, but a faulty pressure sensor can throw things off. In my Toledo, it was located near the throttle body. I'd recommend getting it checked out by a professional. They can properly diagnose the issue and prevent you from causing more damage. A diagnostic tool can read the pressure sensor data. It's better to be sure than to start replacing parts without knowing for sure.

Just to let you know, it was the wastegate valve, as suspected. The garage confirmed and replaced it. It cost 860€, but the car is running smoothly again. Thanks for the help!

That sounds like what happened with my Seat Toledo. I had a similar loss of power and a strange whistling noise. The mechanic said the boost control system wasn't working properly. Have you checked the pressure sensor connected to the throttle body? When mine went bad, it caused weird issues, like a tap that can't regulate the water pressure.
