Air intake obstruction... interesting. Was your Volvo also showing signs of overheating?

Yes, the Volvo did exhibit elevated engine temperatures. Given your Toledo's symptoms and the stored error, a thorough diagnostic by a qualified technician is advisable. They can assess the air intake, exhaust system, and bypass valve functionality to pinpoint the root cause.

Turns out it was a ghost error. The air intake had a minor blockage, causing engine stalling, and the bypass valve error was a consequence. The exhaust system was checked and is all clear. The car repair was basically cleaning the air intake. Cost was zero. Thanks for the advice.

Your description aligns with an issue I encountered on a Volvo V60, diesel engine. The error memory stored similar codes, suggesting a bypass valve malfunction. Have you inspected the air intake system for obstructions? Restricted airflow can trigger consequential errors related to the exhaust system and subsequently, the bypass valve.
