Seat Toledo charge air temperature sensor issue

I'm having a problem with my 2002 Seat Toledo (gasoline engine, 73696 km). The check engine light is on, and the car has reduced engine power. I'm also hearing a whistling noise, almost a loud hissing, when I accelerate. I ran a scan, and it's showing a charge air temperature sensor error. From what I've read, it sounds like a defective cable or plug connection on the engine sensor might be the cause? Has anyone experienced this before?

I had a similar issue with my Toledo, though I can't recall the exact mileage. Check the cable and plug connection to the charge air temperature sensor as a first step. These cars are prone to issues there.

Thanks, that's helpful! When you say 'similar issue', do you mean the whistling noise and reduced power too? And did you fix it yourself, or did you take it to a mechanic?

Yes, the whistling and power loss were very similar to what you describe. I'd suggest checking the air intake and sensor connections yourself, but if you're not comfortable, taking it to a workshop is probably best. They can diagnose the airflow sensor issue properly.

Took the Toledo to a local garage. The diagnosis was correct - a bad connection to the charge air temperature sensor. They cleaned it and replaced a section of the cable. The total was 95€, and the car is running perfectly again. Thanks for the tip!
