Seat Toledo Cruise Control Failure

I'm having a terrible time. The cruise control on my 2009 Seat Toledo with a gasoline engine just quit working. Now there's an error stored in the memory, which the mechanic read out. He said it's likely a defective cable or plug connection. It's like the car suddenly forgot how to maintain speed. Any ideas before I spend a ton of money?

I had a similar problem with my Seat Leon, same brand as yours. First thing I'd check is the fuse box. A blown fuse can disable the cruise control. Have you checked the throttle position sensor and the speed sensor? Sometimes a faulty reading there can also cause issues.

Where exactly is the fuse for the cruise control located? And how can I check the throttle position and speed sensors?

The fuse box diagram should be in your owner's manual. As for the sensors, that's trickier. You'd need an OBD scanner to read their values. Honestly, if you're not comfortable with that, taking it to a workshop might be best. They have the tools to diagnose it properly. Sounds like the mechanic already suspects a cable issue, which matches your error code.

Thanks a lot! Took it to the local shop and they found a defective cable. It cost me 95€ including labor. Cruise control is working again, so I'm happy.
