Seat Toledo Diesel Engine Power Loss
Summary of the thread
A 2004 Seat Toledo with a diesel engine was experiencing reduced power, and a diagnostic tool indicated an error related to the engine control unit (ECU). The initial suspicion was a defective ECU or main relay. After consulting with others who had similar issues, it was suggested to check wiring and connections. Ultimately, a garage confirmed the main relay was the problem, replaced it, and resolved the issue.

When you say sensor, do you remember which one it was? Also, how did you check the wiring? I'm not very experienced with automotive electronics. Is it something I can do myself, or should I just take it to a workshop for ECU repair?

I don't remember the exact sensor, sorry. I'm no expert either but I checked the visible parts of the cables for corrosion and if the connectors are firmly mounted to the sensors. Honestly, if you're not comfortable with automotive electronics, it's best to take it to a workshop that does ECU repair. It could save you time and prevent further damage to the computer module.

The garage confirmed it was the main relay causing ECU problems. They replaced it, cleared the error memory, and now my Seat Toledo runs like new. Cost me 120€. Thanks for the advice, really helped narrow down the problem!

Sounds like ECU problems, I had a similar issue with my old Renault Megane. Reduced engine power and error codes. In my case, it turned out to be a faulty sensor messing with the automotive electronics. Have you checked the wiring and connections to the computer module? Sometimes it's just a loose connector.
