Seat Toledo Diesel Glow Plug Issue

I have a 2003 Seat Toledo with a diesel engine. Recently, the preheating lamp on the dashboard doesn't switch off after starting the engine. I scanned for errors, and there's a glow plug related fault code stored in the error memory. My initial thought is that one or more glow plugs are defective. Could this be the cause of the check engine light?

That sounds familiar. I had a similar issue with my Toledo a while back. Preheating lamp acting up and an error code pointing to the glow plugs. Did you notice any engine misfire, especially during cold start?

Yeah, the engine does seem a bit rough on startup when it's cold. How did you resolve your issue? Did you end up replacing all the glow plugs?

Yes, the cold start issue is a telltale sign of faulty glow plugs in a diesel car. The ECU probably detects the failure and throws the check engine light. Given the symptoms and error code, a defective glow plug is the most likely cause. I would recommend taking your car to a workshop to have the glow plugs checked and replaced.

Took it to a local workshop, and you were spot on. Glow plugs were indeed the culprit. It cost me 440€, parts and labor. Thanks for the help!
