Seat Toledo electric seat issue

I'm at my wits' end with my Seat Toledo (2000 model with a diesel engine). The passenger electric seat has stopped working entirely. I've checked the fuses, but they seem fine. The error memory stores a fault, and seat adjustment is just not possible. Could a heavily discharged or defective battery be the culprit? I was hoping it would be something simple, but I'm starting to fear the worst. Has anyone experienced anything similar with their car seats?

Summary of the thread

The Seat Toledo's passenger electric seat stopped functioning, with error memory indicating a fault. Initial checks of fuses showed no issues, leading to concerns about a heavily discharged or defective battery. Suggestions included checking seat wiring for loose connections and scanning for error codes. Ultimately, a workshop diagnosis confirmed the battery was the problem, and replacing it resolved the seat issue.

Sounds like a frustrating issue! I remember having something similar with the power seats in my Toledo as well. The car seats just wouldn't adjust, and it was a total pain. Did you check the seat wiring under the seat? Sometimes a loose connection can cause these kinds of problems. Also, have you tried scanning the car for error codes? That might give you a clue. I would carefully check for any damaged wires under the seat first. It's a common spot for things to get snagged or pinched.

I did scan the car, and it showed an error related to the passenger seat. I also tried wiggling the seat wiring, but no luck so far. When you had the same problem, did the error code specifically mention a power issue, or was it something more generic? Was it the driver or passenger side seat?

Yes, the error code was related to a power supply issue to the seat motor. And it was indeed the passenger seat! Given that you've already checked the fuses and wiring, and you're still getting an error, it strongly suggests the battery or possibly the seat motor itself. If you are not entirely confident, I would recommend taking it to a workshop for a proper diagnosis. They can properly check the battery's health and the seat motor's functionality.

Took my Toledo to the workshop, and you were right. The error memory indicated a fault with the passenger electric seat, and after diagnostics, it turned out the battery was heavily discharged, causing the issue. They replaced the battery, cleared the error, and now the seat works perfectly. The total cost was 290€.
