Seat Toledo engine issues
Summary of the thread
A 2012 Seat Toledo owner is experiencing issues with the check engine light and engine stalling at idle, suspecting a fuel tank ventilation system leak, possibly due to a defective activated charcoal filter. Another person suggests the problem might be related to the EVAP system, which controls emissions and airflow, and recommends checking for leaks, possibly involving the charcoal filter or hoses. The original poster confirms that a workshop identified the charcoal filter as the issue, resolving the problem after replacement.

If you aren't experienced with the EVAP system, I recommend taking it to a workshop. Without proper diagnostic tools, it's hard to pinpoint the exact source of the leak. You could try replacing the filter yourself, but you might end up chasing other components. It's best to have a professional run a smoke test to check for leaks. That's how I found my leak.

Thanks for the quick reply! So, if it's the charcoal filter, is it something I can replace myself, or is it better to leave it to the pros? And how can I be sure it's really the filter and not something else in the EVAP system?

Just wanted to say you were right. The workshop confirmed it was the charcoal filter. Cost me 275€, but at least the check engine light is off and the engine runs smoothly now. Thanks a lot for your help!

Sounds like you might have a problem with your EVAP system. I had a similar issue with my Seat Toledo. Is your fuel efficiency worse than before? The EVAP system is all about emission control and air flow. Does the smell of gasoline get stronger when you fill up the tank? It could indeed be the charcoal filter, or a hose within the EVAP system. It's all about leak detection at this point.
