Seat Toledo Key Battery Low Warning

I'm having trouble. My 2005 Seat Toledo with a gasoline engine is throwing a 'key battery low' warning. The keyless access is dead, and I've got an error stored. Unlocking and locking are difficult now. I'm guessing it's the key fob battery, but has anyone else experienced this before I get a new key?

I had a similar issue with my Seat Leon. The key fob stopped working sometimes. Have you tried checking the battery voltage with a multimeter? It might give you a better idea of its condition.

Interesting, so it was definitely the fob battery for you too? Did you also get error codes in the ECU?

Yes, I got a similar error logged. Replacing the fob battery fixed the issue. If a new battery doesn't fix it, there might be a deeper problem, and I'd suggest a workshop.

Thanks for confirming. I got the key battery swapped at the local garage. It was 37€, but everything works now. The error codes are gone too.
