Seat Toledo Power Steering Issue

Alright, I'm officially stumped. My 2012 Seat Toledo with a gasoline engine is giving me fits with the power steering. It's got about 145739 km on it. The steering wheel is vibrating, the handling feels spongy, and it takes a lot more effort to steer than it should. I scanned it and pulled an error code related to the power steering. From what I've read, it could be a bad connection somewhere. I'm thinking maybe a cable or plug. Has anyone else run into this?

That sounds familiar. I had a similar issue with my old Opel Astra a few years back. The steering wheel vibration and spongy handling are dead giveaways. Did you check the hydraulic fluid level? Also, have you inspected the steering column and pressure hose for any visible leaks or damage?

Thanks for the quick reply! I did check the hydraulic fluid, and it seems to be at the correct level. I haven't really looked closely at the steering column or pressure hose though. Where exactly should I be looking for potential issues there?

Yeah, it does sound like an electrical connection issue. On my Astra, it was a corroded connector. If the fluid is good and there are no visible leaks, I'd bet money on it being an electrical problem. I would suggest getting it properly diagnosed, they can pinpoint the exact location of the fault with the diagnostic tool.

Just wanted to close this. Took it to a trusted shop, and you nailed it. Turned out to be a corroded connector on the power steering unit. They cleaned it up, and all is well. 95€ later and the Toledo is back on the road. Thanks a bunch for your help!
