Seat Toledo security alarm malfunction

I'm getting seriously frustrated with my Seat Toledo, 2007 diesel engine. The security alarm system is acting up. The error memory shows a fault, and the alarm itself isn't working at all. It's not triggering false alarms, it's just completely dead. Any ideas what could be causing this? Could it be a battery issue, even though the car starts fine?

Summary of the thread

A 2007 Seat Toledo's security alarm system was malfunctioning, showing an error and failing to activate. The issue was not related to the car's battery, as it started without problems. The solution involved recoding the alarm system at a workshop, which resolved the issue by correcting the system's settings.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Sounds like a real pain! I had a similar issue with my Toledo, though I can't remember the exact year. Kept getting false alarms, and the battery was draining like crazy. Have you checked the battery? A weak battery can sometimes trigger weird security system behavior. Also, any signs of power failure recently?

Thanks for the quick reply! I did check the battery, and it seems fine. No obvious signs of power failure either. The car starts without any issues. When you had the false alarms, did it also store an error in the error memory? And did it affect the immobilizer at all?

Yes, it did store an error code, but I don't remember what it was exactly. The immobilizer was fine, thankfully. Honestly, I'd recommend taking it to a workshop to get it properly diagnosed. They'll be able to pinpoint the issue much faster and recode the alarm system if needed. It could save you a lot of headache in the long run!

Big thanks for your help! I went to a workshop, and after checking the error memory, it turned out the security alarm system was coded to activate the optical locking (indicators). They recoded it, and everything is working fine now. Cost me 45€. Hopefully, this will help someone else in the future!
