Seat Toledo Tailgate Hall Sensor Problem

I'm experiencing an issue with the tailgate on my 2006 Seat Toledo with a gasoline engine; the mileage is 182015 km. The error memory stores a "Tailgate hall sensor fault," and the tailgate does not open completely. Based on preliminary diagnosis, the likely cause is a defective cable or plug connection. Has anyone encountered a similar issue, and if so, were there any specific troubleshooting steps you found helpful before considering sensor replacement?

Sounds like a pain. Have you checked the wiring harness that goes to the tailgate? They can get damaged over time, especially if it's an automatic tailgate. Is the power tailgate opening partially, or not at all?

Yes, I've visually inspected the harness, and it appears intact. I'm curious, are there specific points in the harness or the plug connection where the issue is commonly located? Also, is sensor calibration absolutely necessary after a simple contact cleaning, or is that something specific to the Seat Toledo?

Yeah, it's a common thing. The wires chafe where they bend at the hinge. As for the sensor calibration it depends on the system. If cleaning the connection fixes it, you might be okay. But if the sensor's signal is still off, a calibration is needed. Honestly, for something like that, I'd probably just take it to a workshop.

Thanks for the confirmation. I took it to a local workshop, and they diagnosed a faulty hall sensor connection, as suspected. They cleaned the contacts and performed sensor calibration. The total repair came to 95€. Everything is working as expected now.
