Seeking Advice and Sharing Experiences on 2016 Volvo V70 Diesel Alarm System Issues and Workshop Repairs
(Translated from German)
Summary of the thread
A 2016 Volvo V70 Diesel is experiencing alarm system issues, suspected to be caused by a fault in the extra battery within the alarm system. A similar issue was resolved in a 2014 Volvo XC70 by replacing the discharged battery, which was attributed to aging. The suggested solution is to take the vehicle to a local workshop for diagnosis and potential battery replacement, with an expectation that the repair cost should be manageable.

Hello, Thanks for the tip, I really appreciate it. No weird warning lights or late starts. Just the alarm acting up. Last time my car saw a service station was 74,594 KM or so ago. Guess I'll take it to the local workshop and see what's up. Got my fingers crossed it won't leave a big hole in my wallet. Cheers!

No worries bud, Seems like your motor should be in good nick then, especially if there aren't any other symptoms aside from the alarm. If it's just the additional battery that's causing the issue, shouldn't be too costly. As a ballpark, the repair for my XC70 was around 330 Euro, but prices might vary a bit based on different models and workshops. Good idea to take it to the local workshop though, they'll should be able to get a solid diagnosis. Best of luck, and hope it doesn't cost ya an arm and a leg! Cheers!

Hey again, That's a relief. Hoping my Volvo won't be too hard on the budget either. Thanks a lot for sharing your experience and the advice, feels like I've got a clearer picture of what to do next. Should be taking it to the local workshop within the week. Let's hope the diagnosis doesn't turn up anything too crazy! Much appreciated. Cheers!

Hey, I hear ya! I had a similar issue with my 2014 Volvo XC70. I'd say I have enough car experience to get by, but far from a mechanic. Took my rig to a decent local workshop and they confirmed that it was indeed the battery playing up, got discharged due to aging. Set me back by 330 Euro to have it sorted but it was worth it. Car's been smooth sailing since then. Just to be sure though, can you tell me if you've been noticing anything else off about your car? Any warning lights or late starts maybe? Cheers!
