Seeking Advice for 2015 Volvo V40 ABS/DSC System Issue: Potential Transmission Fluid Problem

ABS/DSC system is not working

Hey folks, I'm having a bit of trouble with my 2015 Volvo V40 Gasoline. The ABS/DSC system's acting up, which is definitely not normal. I'm suspecting the transmission fluid might be worn out but wanted to get your thoughts on this. Has anyone faced a similar issue and got it sorted at the workshop? I'd love to hear about your experiences and any troubleshooting advice you might have. Cheers!

Hey, I had a similar issue with my 2013 Volvo S60. Only a slight variant of your model. Now, I wouldn't say I'm a car whizz but I do have some experience, mostly hands-on stuff. Got a bit confused with the ABS/DSC system on the fritz, just as you are. Took her to the local workshop. They were pretty sound with their diagnostics. Turns out it wasn't the transmission fluid. The Gear oil was worn out. Cost me a neat 365 Euro to get it all sorted out. You didn't specify your mileage or how often you change your fluids, but it might be worth checking out. Wanna share info on your car usage? It'd help me give more pointed advice. Short and sweet - check that gear oil bud. Good luck!

Hey there, thanks for the tip! I clocked up 19227 KM on my V40 so far. I get the servicing done at the dealership every year and never had an issue until now. Maybe it is the gear oil as you said, I'll take her in and ask them to check that specifically. Appreciate the assistance!

No worries! Always happy to throw in a word or two. Your mileage is quite decent for a 2015 model, so suspecting worn-out transmission fluid at this stage might seem premature. Yearly dealership service is absolutely the way to go, good job on that! Given your car's usage and regular servicing, I'd say the likelihood of the gear oil being worn out seems much higher than the transmission fluid. When you take your V40 in for a check, also ask them to look into ABS/DSC system sensors. Sometimes, accumulated dirt or a minor glitch in the sensors can cause these problems as well. Good to chat with a fellow Volvo owner! Stay safe and keep us posted on how it goes. Fingers crossed, you’ll be back on the road with a smooth running motor in no time. Cheers!

Hey, can't thank you enough for your help, really appreciate it! Yeah, I'll make sure they check the gear oil and the ABS/DSC system sensors as you suggested. Gotta admit, I didn't think of that! Post-inspection, I'll drop a note here on how it turned out and what the actual problem was. It's always great to connect with fellow Volvo enthusiasts. Fingers crossed, hope it just needs some maintenance tweaks. Take care and catch you around, cheers!
