Seeking Advice for 2018 Dacia Duster Diesel with Possible Swirl Flap Control Issue and Engine Problems

Hey all, I've got a bit of a weird one with my 2018 Dacia Duster Diesel. She's been acting up lately with the engine light coming on, losing power, unsteady engine, jerking and hissing when I try to accelerate, and even shaking when idling. I reckon it might be an issue with the swirl flap control on the intake manifold, but I'm no expert. Has anyone experienced something similar or have any tips for troubleshooting? Also, if you've had this problem fixed in a workshop, could you share your experience and what they did to solve it? Appreciate any help you can offer!

Hey there, Just so happens I had a similar issue with my 2016 Dacia Logan Diesel. Swirl flap was the culprit in my case too. So I reckon I have got a bit of experience under my grease-stained belt. Took the beast to my trusted local shop. The guys there have popped the hood of my Logan more times than I care to count - they did a fantastic job as always. Ended up needing a full swirl flap replacement, which set me back about 865 Euro. Not exactly cheap, but she runs like a dream now, no loss in power or erratic engine behaviour. What's your Duster's mileage? Does she have a bad history of maintenance or neglect? Throw in some more details, it might help figuring out if we’re dealing with the same beast here. Hope this helps!

Hey, thanks for the response! My Duster's clocking in at 138444 KM right now. She's pretty well looked after, regular services and all that. Last service was not that long ago. But these issues have really got me scratching my head. Anyway, your experience with the swirl flap replacement gives me a hint of what to expect if that turns out to be the same issue. It's a bit of a sting to the wallet but if it gets her running smooth again, I reckon it's worth it. I'll definitely consult my local shop and see what they have to say. Really appreciate you sharing your insights!

Hey! Great to hear that you've been keeping up with the maintenance! Judging by Miles you have clocked, I'd say there's a fair chance it could indeed be the swirl flap playing up. Relieved to hear my previous experience could be of some help. I know it's not particularly pleasing to imagine shelling out for a new part, but trust me, in the end, it's so worth it to not have to worry each time you start her up. And definitely, consult with your local mechanics. They'd have a good grasp on common issues, especially if they regularly work with Dacias. Keep us updated on what you find out! Good luck hoping for the best for you and your Duster!

Thanks heaps for the reassurance and advice! I'll make sure to let you know what the mechanics say and how it all goes. Fingers crossed it's nothing too serious, but you've given me a fair expectation of what might be up. Cheers for all the help! Drive safe and take care.
