Seeking Advice for 2021 Seat Tarraco Gasoline Engine Issues: Smoke, Power Loss, High Fuel Consumption

Stalling while idling

Check engine light on

Shaking while idling

Car won't start

Jerking on acceleration

Loss of engine power

Poor fuel economy

Unsteady engine

Black smoke from exhaust on acceleration

Hey everyone! I've been having a bit of trouble with my 2021 Seat Tarraco with a Gasoline engine. I've noticed some weird symptoms like black smoke when I step on the gas, check engine light coming on, and drop in power in the engine. My car even stalled out when idling and is shaking a lot. Also, it's really been chugging fuel and won't start sometimes. I suspect it might be something with the ignition coil or a misfire. Anyone else experienced something similar with their Tarraco or another car? How did you fix it? Any advice from those who've taken it to a workshop? Thanks in advance for your help!

Hey there! I feel your pain, I had the same trouble with my 2019 Seat Ateca a while back. I'd say I have some experience with cars, but I'm certainly not a professional in any way. Much like yours, my car was guzzling fuel, showing the check engine light continuously, and was quite unstable at idle. I took it to my trusted local workshop where they checked it out. Turns out, it was indeed the ignition coil - more specifically, it was a defective cable connection to the ignition coil. I had to pay around 365.00 Euro to get it fixed. To help you further, could you tell me if you've run any diagnostics on your car, and did you notice anything out of the ordinary before these issues started? It's essential to know all the symptoms to give the best advice. But hey, at least from my experience, it's a fixable problem. Best of luck!

Oh, amazing! Your situation sounds spot-on. To answer your question - no, I haven't run any diagnostics yet, but I can do that soon. I didn't notice anything unusual before the problems started. One day it was running smoothly, then the next, all these issues. The car's got about 175,484 KM on the clock, last service at 160,000km. Sounds like a trip to my local garage is in order, possibly some cable tinkering required. Appreciate the help!

Absolutely! From my experience, you're heading in the right direction. Just like mine, your Seat could be facing some cable connection issues to the ignition coil. With the symptoms being almost the same, I would advise you to act right away. Ah, and don't shy away from running these diagnostics, it can give you a clearer direction before heading to the garage. Remember, if it's indeed an issue with the ignition coil, you should get it sorted as quickly as possible to avoid any further engine damage. Also, check the spark plugs while you're at it - they can cause similar symptoms if they're worn out. Given the significant mileage on your car, it's good to be on top of these things, even if it means a bit of expense now. It'll save you more money in the long run. Keep us posted on things, always keen to know how others fare. Best of luck!

Thanks a ton for the advice! It's really reassuring to hear your experience. I'll follow your advice - run the diagnostics, and then take it to the garage for a thorough look. Let's hope it's just the cable connection or at worst, the ignition coil and spark plugs. I'll ensure I get on top of it quickly, the last thing I want is more damage to the engine and more cost. And yes, you're absolutely right, better to shell out a bit now than a lot later. Will definitely keep you guys posted on the progress and outcomes. I've got my fingers crossed, hoping for a smooth and quick resolution. Once again, thanks for all the help, truly appreciate it!
