Seeking Advice for Multiple Issues with 2021 Seat Tarraco Gasoline Engine

Hey folks, I'm having some trouble with my 2021 Seat Tarraco running on a Gasoline engine. I'm noticing some bizarre things like black smoke on accelerating, the check engine light being on, engine turning off on its own, lower engine power, unstable engine, jerking when speeding up, and bad fuel efficiency. Not to mention, there's a strong exhaust smell and it stalls when idling. I'm guessing it could be an issue with the fuel composition, but I'm no expert here. Has anyone else experienced these issues? I'm curious to know how you've got it fixed and your experiences with your workshop. Any tips or insights would be greatly appreciated. Cheers!

Hey there! I ain't no car expert, but I've had a smidge of experience with a pretty similar problem, so maybe I can help out. Several months back, my 2019 Seat Leon ST (we're practically car cousins, eh?) was acting up with some of these same symptoms: black belching smoke, shaky engine, and the check engine light that screamed 'trouble'. My workshop guy was a pro - he blamed it on a defective cable/plug that was messing with the engine's fuel-air mixture. The tab for the fix ran me up about 95.00 Euro. All things considered, it simply sounded right so I got it fixed and my car's been a picture of health since then. But hey, your car might not have the exact same issue as mine. It could help if I could have more info around your vehicle's make and model. Apart from that, I'd say hit up a trusty mechanic. The sooner, the better! Best of luck!

Hey, appreciate your reply! That's quite interesting, as it somewhat aligns with my assumptions regarding the fuel-air mix. I think you're right, I need to take it to a mechanic soon, just trying to gather as much info as I can before I do. Also, to share more info about my car, it's a 2021 Seat Tarraco with around 169588 KM on it and runs on Gasoline. I serviced it last 4 months back. Cheers for your help!

No problem, happy to lend a hand! Ahh, a 2021 Seat Tarraco? Nice ride! Since it does run on Gasoline like my Leon, you could indeed be dealing with something similar like an issue with the engine's fuel-air ratio, coinciding with our shared symptoms. That said, these symptoms could signal various other issues like a dirty air filter, faulty fuel injector, or even malfunctioning sensors. Last serviced 4 months ago? Hmm, I would definitely recommend popping the hood open with your mechanic. Sounds like something might've slipped through during the previous service (happens to the best of us, doesn't it?) In the meantime, one cool trick - try to keep track of any patterns in these symptoms. When does the black smoke appear most? Or how often is the engine stalling when idling? Any additional clues can be really useful when the mechanic tries to diagnose the car. Hope it all works out! Don't stress too much, our Spanish stallions might be acting up, but they're resilient! Keep us posted, yeah? Cheers!

Really appreciate you taking time out to help! Quite an eye-opener, honestly. I'll be noting down these points. Certainly, will keep a tab on the patterns, like when the troublesome black smoke is most noticeable or engine stall frequency. I'm sure that will provide the mechanic with some vital leads. I hope it's nothing major and my Spanish stallion gets back in shape soon. Will surely bring my car experiences back here post the workshop visit for the benefit of anyone dealing with similar issues. Thanks a bunch, and Happy motoring! Cheers!
