Seeking advice for Seat Ibiza with engine problems

Hi everyone, I need your advice. I have a Seat Ibiza, petrol engine, year 2010 with 101234 km mileage and I'm currently having problems. The power is gone, the engine is not running smoothly, the car jerks when accelerating and doesn't pick up the gas. The whole thing is accompanied by black smoke from the exhaust, an illuminated check engine light and poor fuel consumption. It has stalled a few times when idling and from time to time it simply won't start. I suspect a defective spark plug. Has anyone had similar experiences? My last visit to the garage was anything but great. I look forward to your tips, thank you!

Summary of the thread

A Seat Ibiza from 2010 is experiencing engine problems, including loss of power, rough running, jerking during acceleration, black smoke from the exhaust, an illuminated check engine light, poor fuel consumption, stalling, and occasional starting issues. The suspected cause is a defective spark plug, but similar symptoms in another vehicle were resolved by replacing a faulty ignition coil. It is recommended to have the ignition coil checked by a professional to potentially resolve the issues.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Hello, I have a 2013 Seat Leon and had similar problems to yours. My car also ran rough, had difficulty accelerating and there was black smoke coming out of the exhaust. It was actually a serious problem, a fault in the ignition coil. The mechanics at the garage had to change the ignition coil and since then my car has been running perfectly again. So I can only recommend that you have it checked by a professional. Good luck with that!

Hi, that sounds like a similar problem to the one I had with my old Ibiza. Was it just the ignition coils or were there other problems? And if you remember, how much did you spend on the repair? Fingers crossed that everything has been running smoothly since the ignition coils were replaced.

Hey, no, since I've been to the mechanic, my Leon is running like a champ again. They actually just identified a defective ignition coil and replaced it immediately. That completely solved my problem with the jerking and the black smoke. When it came to the cost, I was also pleasantly surprised. I only paid around 105 euros for the repair. So everything is fine. Good luck to you!
