Seeking Advice for Troubleshooting a 2014 Lexus IS Hybrid with Engine Issues and Suspected Tank Vent Valve Problem

Hey all, I've got a 2014 Lexus IS Hybrid behaving a bit dodgy lately. She's showing the check engine light, losing power, and the engine's unsteady. Plus, I'm dealing with jerks on acceleration and stalls & shakes while idling. I'm suspecting the tank vent valve could be the culprit. Anyone had a similar issue? Any tips on troubleshooting or personal workshop experiences getting this fixed would be really appreciated!

Hey there, Ran into something similar with my 2012 Lexus ES Hybrid. I'm just a total car rookie. Ended up taking my car to my local workshop. Turns out, they spotted a problem with the hoses. Cost me around 175€ to add new ones, but it did clear up my issues quite a bit. By the way, could you tell me more about your vehicle use? Mileage, maintenance history etc.? Maybe I could provide some more detailed advice. Stay safe and best of luck!

Hey! Thanks for chipping in. It's encouraging hearing your issues cleared up. As for my baby Lexus, she's clocked 95405 KM on the dial. Mostly smooth highways and city roads, very little off the road stuff. She had the regular maintenance last time around a month ago. Checked the hoses then but seemed okay. Maybe I should give 'em another once-over. Your advice is really valued. Cheers!

No worries, always glad to help a fellow Lexus owner out! Given your car's mileage and usage, it seems like you've taken pretty good care of her. It's puzzling that the hoses looked okay on the last check but you're still experiencing these issues. It could still be the tank vent valve. You know how it can fail to open or close properly or get stuck due to dirt or debris, causing all kinda hinderances like your engine stalling or losing power. But I'm no mechanic so don't take it as a diagnosis! I'd suggest maybe getting a professional diagnosis at a trusted garage. They can run a diagnostic check and inspect for any physical damage thoroughly. It might be a bit more expensive but it can identify the underlying problems - if any- that a basic once-over might miss. Just my two cents! I hope you figure this out soon. The shake and jerk definitely aren't good for you or your car. Do keep me updated on this. Cheers!

You're spot on! It's been bothering me a good bit, not the best thing for a relaxed drive, is it? I think getting a professional diagnosis does sound like the best next step for me. Better to be safe than sorry, eh? Really can't thank you enough for your insights, they've been super helpful. Once I've gotten her looked at by the pros, I'll definitely keep you posted on the developments. Cheers and take care!
