Seeking Advice on '04 Fiat Panda with Warning Lights and Potential Tank Flap Issue

Fault stored

Check engine light on

Warning light in the speedometer of the vehicle

Hey everyone, I'm dealing with some issues on my '04 Fiat Panda. It's gas-powered and has racked up about 148,781km. My check engine light is on and there's a warning light in the speedometer too, plus there's a stored fault somewhere. I'm thinking it might be down to an issue with the tank flap not unlocking properly. I had a less than stellar experience at the mechanic's last time, so I'm here to gather some insights before I visit again. Anyone experienced anything similar or have any tips on dealing with mechanics? Cheers!

Hey, I had a similar issue with my '01 Fiat Punto a while back. All the warning lights lit up like a Christmas tree and I had a niggling problem of my tank flap not opening smoothly. Ended up being a defective linkage. They replaced a few parts around it and realigned the whole setup. And yeah, it was a considerable issue, not just a pesky little thing. Took a few days at the garage and they had to pull apart a decent portion of the rear part of the car to get to the bottom of it. Not a fun time at all. Tips from my experience? Just be upfront with your mechanic about what the issue is and all the symptoms you've noticed. Got to make sure they've covered all bases, especially with something as indirect as a locked tank flap. Hope this helps. Good luck with that!

Hey there, just reading about your ordeal reminds me of my own '05 Fiat Panda troubles. I also had to deal with a festivity of warning lights on my dashboard. It horrified me to find out the issue was linked with the tank flap as well. From what I remember, I chalked out a good amount of cash to sort that mess out! Just out of curiosity, do you recall how much you ended up paying for the whole linkage replacement and alignment business? And any surprise issues pop up since you sorted it out? Really hoping for a smooth ride after I get the work done on mine. Thanks!

Hey there! Ah, the good old times with the Fiat and its medley of warning lights. The faulty tank flap unlocking and the eventual linkage replacement did set me back a bit. The whole deal cost me around 210€, give or take a couple. But since then, everything's been running smoothly on that front, thankfully, no nasty surprises! Remember, it's always best to communicate as clearly as possible with your mechanic about the issues you're facing - no detail is too small! Hope this helps a bit and your Fiat gets back on track soon, buddy!

Hey everyone! Thanks so much for your helpful insights, really appreciate it! Hearing about your similar experiences helps me understand the gravity of the matter. So it's a tricky deal, huh? Thanks for letting me know about the financial aspect to prepare myself accordingly. It's heartening to know that no more surprise issues have popped up since the linkage replacement for you. My next stop is obviously the mechanic's shop, and I promise to be as forthcoming as I can about the issues I've noticed. I'll probably insist on being there while the parts are replaced and put back together. Yeah, that might help me understand my car a bit more. Thanks again! Will keep you updated about my '04 Panda's journey. Cheers!
