Hey there, That's pretty interesting to hear about the key transponder issue with your Volvo V70! It makes sense and sure sounds similar to the situation I'm dealing with my XC90. Thanks for pointing me down the right road with the whole vehicle lock malfunction idea. Out of curiosity, do you remember roughly how much the garage charged you for the key reprogramming? And have you noticed any other related problems creeping up after getting this fix? Cheers.

Hey, You bet, I remember! It cost me around 45€ for that key reprogramming fix. And lucky enough, I haven't had any related malfunction sneaking up after the mechanic played around with it. So, I'd say your XC90 should be in pretty good shape once this gets sorted out. Just make sure to find a mechanic who knows a thing or two about hybrids. Since you asked for recommendations, you might want to shop around a bit. Don't hop onto the first garage you get, make sure they're trustworthy and won't overcharge you for being a hybrid. Best of luck with your Volvo, hoping for a smooth ride for you!

Hey, Appreciate you sharing your experience. Good to hear you've had no further issues with your V70 after that fix - gives me a bit of hope for my old XC90. And thanks for the heads up regarding checking the mechanic's hybrid knowledge and credentials. I'll certainly be more cautious this time around before handing over my car and cash. Thanks again, I'll keep you posted on how everything goes! Cheers.

Hey, Funny you mentioned this. I had a similar issue with a 2006 Volvo V70 of mine. It had around 40,000 KM on it when the key programming started acting up. One moment, it would start just fine; the next, it wouldn't want to play ball. Took it to the garage. Turns out, the transponder inside the key was sending incorrect codes to the immobilizer system, causing the engine to shut off almost as soon as it started. Basically, the car thought it was being stolen. Safe to say it was a serious issue, the mechanic had to reprogram the key to sync with the immobilizer. So yes, if you got an educated guess saying its a vehicle lock malfunction, you're probably on the right track. Whoever you take it to, make sure they're equipped and knowledgeable with hybrids and key programming. Good luck! Hope it all goes smoothly for ya.
