Seeking Advice on 2006 Lexus RX Hybrid Battery Sensor Issues
Summary of the thread
A 2006 Lexus RX Hybrid is experiencing issues such as longer cold start times, starting difficulties, and a weak battery during cranking. These symptoms suggest a potential problem with the battery sensor, possibly a defective microprocessor. A similar case was resolved by repairing the battery sensor, which restored the vehicle's performance. Additionally, checking the oxygen sensor is recommended, as it can also contribute to cold start problems in older models.

Hey, thanks for the response! My Lexus RX Hybrid has covered about 141350 km as of now. The last time I got it serviced was recently, and everything seemed fine then. I honestly didn't expect these symptoms to pop up out of nowhere. Will definitely look at getting the battery sensor checked out based on your experience. Thanks again! Cheers!

Hey there, I'm glad you found my shared experience helpful! Your mileage is about what mine was when I had that odd battery sensor problem. Now, I'm not suggesting it's the sure-fire culprit, but it's definitely worth checking out. Like I said, fixing the sensor microprocessor sorted me out. Got that 'smooth as a whistle' vibe back, you know what I mean? Given you've just had a service, the other usual suspects like spark plugs, air filters, and fuel injectors should be just fine. But you might not have thought about the oxygen sensor. In older models like ours, they can cause cold start problems as they get worn out. So, maybe ask your mechanic to have a closer look at both battery and oxygen sensors. Keep me updated fingers crossed for ya! Cheers!

Hiya, Thanks a ton for the in-depth advice! I found it super helpful. I never actually considered the oxygen sensor, now that's an eye-opener. I'll definitely ask my guy to check both the sensors as you suggested. Thanks for keeping your fingers crossed for me! Will keep you posted about the progress. Take care and cheers!

Hey there, Oh yes, I had a spookily similar problem with my 2008 Lexus RX 300 a while back. I'm no mechanic, but I've had my fair share of tinkering around cars. Had the same weird symptoms you're talking about. Tossed it to my go-to-guy in the local workshop. They ran some tests and found out that indeed, my battery sensor microprocessor was defective. Cost me around 315 Euro to get it patched up. Outcome? Runs like a dream now, no joke. By the way, can you share a bit more about your RX Hybrid? Mileage, when was the last service, and that stuff. Might help to pinpoint the issue better. Cheers!
