Seeking Advice on 2006 Lexus SC Blower Issues and Unidentified Warning Light

Hey! I've recently been having some issues with my 2006 Lexus SC with about 131,796 KM on it, running on a gasoline engine. The blower's acting up, not enough heat or AC, and a weird warning light on my speedo. I'm thinking it could be a wonky solar sensor. Had a sour experience with my last mechanic gig, so kind of wary this time. Anyone had the same trouble? Any recommendations on how to approach it or trustworthy mechanics? Would appreciate your two cents! Thanks in advance, folks!

Hey! Had a similar kind of situation with my 2009 Lexus LS last year. Initially, I also thought the issue might be due to a faulty solar sensor, but turned out to be something quite more serious. It was a defective wiring harness if you can believe it! The main symptoms were pretty similar to what you're describing - wonky blower, irregular heat/AC, and unusual warning lights. Took a good mechanic to figure it out. I'd say, approach this with a bit of caution. It may not be something as small as a solar sensor issue. What worked for me was to run a scan using the OBD-II scanner, to see if any fault codes were visible. It spun up some strange codes that were traced back to the harness. I don't want to scare you or anything, but a defective wiring harness isn't a minor issue to brush off. It essentially controls and powers all of your car's electrical functions, so it's serious. Took them a fair few hours of labor at the garage to diagnose the fault, replace the faulty harness and test everything out again. Based on what you've described, just recommend you to get a full system check-up at a reliable garage - Important to have someone trustworthy to look into this, especially if it's something this big. Take care! Hope you get it fixed soon. Cheers!

Hey there, Yikes, a defective wiring harness sounds pretty serious, not going to lie. And here I was thinking it's just a temperamental blower! Cheers for the heads-up on this, definitely going to approach it with more caution now. Out of curiosity, do you remember roughly how much you ended up shelling out for this? I'm just trying to budget accordingly. Also, has any other issue popped up since you got this fixed? I just want to brace myself for any possible knock-on effects. Thanks in advance for your help! Cheers!

Hey! Yeah, a dodgy wiring harness can certainly throw a wrench in the works. As for the cost, it set me back around 155€. Yeah, not a paltry sum but the peace of mind was worth it. Took a few hours of labor, but they had me up and running in no time. And to answer your second question, since the visit to the mechanic, everything's been on the level. The funny thing, you know, about that solar sensor, it indeed had a fault but that was sorted out too. No surprise hitches or extra troubles since then, touch wood. Anyway I hope your wallet won't need to endure too much of a hit and that your car is back to its top form soon! Cheers!

Hey! Appreciate you taking the time to share your experience. I'm relieved to hear your car's been running smoothly since the fix. That cost does seem steep, but I guess it's a worthy investment for the peace of mind. I'll certainly be bracing my poor wallet and getting a thorough system check-up now. Hope it's nothing too serious, but I'm not taking any chances. Here's to having my ride back on the road in tip-top shape and no weird warning lights! Cheers for your help and take care!
