Seeking Advice on 2009 Nissan Primastar's Airbag, ABS, and ABS/DSC Warning Lights
(Translated from German)
Summary of the thread
A 2009 Nissan Primastar is experiencing warning lights for the Airbag, ABS, and ABS/DSC systems. The suspected cause is a faulty lateral acceleration sensor, but similar cases have pointed to issues with the ABS/DSC control unit. The recommended solution is to conduct a complete diagnostic to identify the root cause and potentially replace the ABS/DSC control unit, as it is critical for vehicle safety.

Hey there, I suspect my Nissan Primastar might be headed down the same path! Seems like these control units on Nissans are a bit of a soft spot, huh? I appreciate the word of caution about not sidelining this issue. Safety first, of course. If you remember, do you have a ballpark figure of how much it set you back to replace the ABS/DSC unit? And did it sort out everything or were there any other issues that popped up since then? Thanks a bunch for your help!

Hey bud, Absolutely, safety should always be paramount. Regarding the cost, it ended up being a bit of a hit. Got the ABS/DSC control unit battered into shape for a cool 1000€. I know, it's steep but at least it wiped out those worrisome warning lights for me. Look, as I stated earlier, I suspected my lateral acceleration sensor just like you. But since I've had the specialist look into it, that problem has been completely resolved. It's been smooth sailing since then, no other issues have popped up thankfully. The price may seem a bit eye-watering, but trust me, a functioning ABS/DSC system is worth its weight in gold. So don't take it lightly. Cheers and best of luck with your Primastar!

Hey, That does sound a bit pricey, but I guess we can't put a price on safety, can we? Your experience relieves me a bit as it looks like I'm not the only one in this boat. Keeping my fingers crossed that, like in your case, getting the ABS/DSC control unit replaced will take care of those pesky warning lights. This rendezvous with the mechanic can't come soon enough! Thanks a ton for sharing. I feel a lot better equipped about handling this now. Wishing you and your Pathfinder many more miles of smooth sailing! Cheers.

Hey, Faced something similar with my 2012 Nissan Pathfinder, and you're not wrong, it was a tough nut to crack. My ABS/DSC control unit turned out to be defective as well. I know it's a pain, but don't ignore it, could really impact your car's braking system and stability in the long run. When I took it to the garage, the first thing they did was run a complete diagnostic to find the root cause. Thought it was my sensor too, but turned out to be the ABS/DSC control unit. They had to replace it to get rid of the warning lights; my airbag warning was part of the same issue apparently. So yeah, don't jump to conclusions, let the pro's figure it out. But you should definitely not delay this, as ABS/DSC is critical for your safety. Hope you get this sorted soon! Cheers.
