Hey there! Your situation sounds like déjà vu except I've got a V50. Sounds like your V70 was seriously under the weather just like my ride. Really good to know that it was the crankcase ventilation fault and that the fix worked out for you in the end. Just out of curiosity, did you manage to keep track of the mechanic's bill? How heavy a dent did it put on your wallet? Also, since you got it sorted has there been anything related to this issue cropping up again? Cheers!

Hey again! Yeah, the symptoms were eerily similar between our cars, eh? As for the damage to the ol' wallet, the whole fix set me back around 360 Euro. That included the clean up and total replacement of the crankcase ventilation system. I know it's not exactly chump change, but considering how much it improved my V70's performance, I'd say it was well worth the investment. Beats shelling out for a new car! And no, since the visit to my mechanic, I've not had any other issues related to the crankcase ventilation. It was a one-time fix and we were back on the road. Goes to show, don't put off those niggling car issues! So fingers crossed it's the same for your V50. Cheers!

Eerie indeed! 360 Euro doesn’t sound like a bad deal considering we're talking about major car repairs. Way cheaper than getting a new car. It's great to hear that the problem didn't pop up again for you. Thank you for sharing your experience, it really helped put my mind at ease. You're right, putting off these issues doesn't do any good. Heading off to the workshop now, hoping for a likewise trouble-free outcome. Thanks again! Keep those wheels rollin'!

Hey, I know exactly what you're going through. I had a similar issue with my 2007 Volvo V70 a while back. Check engine light was on, sporadic power, and the engine wasn't steady. My mechanic told me it was the crankcase ventilation that was defective, just like you suspected. It wasn't a small issue either, the poor thing needed some serious attention, but luckily it didn't affect the longevity of my car. What they basically did was they cleaned out the system first to get rid of all the gunk and debris. After that, they replaced the entire crankcase ventilation system because cleaning wasn't going to cut it alone, due to the parts being all worn out and damaged. This fixed the erratic shaking and brought back the power. The fuel economy got better too. So, in the end, was it a bit of hassle? Yeah, but totally worth it and necessary to keeping your car running smooth. Best of luck with sorting yours out!
