Seeking Advice on 2013 Kia Pro Ceed Performance Issues: Possible Fuel Pressure Regulator Problem?

Hey, been having a bit of a weird time lately with my 2013 Kia Pro Ceed running on gasoline. Noticed some odd signs like black smoke puffing out on acceleration, engine out of nowhere shutting off, drop in power, engine not running steady, and it's been jerking when I step on it. Add in bad MPG, heavy exhaust scent, and stalling at idle. I'm suspecting it might be the fuel pressure regulator acting up, but I'd love some insights from you guys or if you've had any similar issues. How did you sort this out in your workshop? Would really appreciate your experiences or tips to get my baby back on track. Thanks in advance!

Hey! I've had a somewhat similar issue with my 2011 Kia Optima, running on petrol of course. Now, I ain't no car guru, but I've got a wee bit of experience tinkering around the engine, so bear with me. You're spot on with suspecting something to do with the fuel system given your symptoms - for my Optima, the issue was rooted in a fuel filter change. After switching it out, my system threw an error message, and I had to hoof it over to my local workshop. They did their magic, turned out there was some kind of fault with the data entry after the change. Set me back 45€, but at least the car's running top notch again. In any case, it'd be useful if you could share more info about your car. Things like how many miles you've put on it, the last service date, and what that might have involved. All those details could help us pinpoint the issue more accurately. Best of luck with your Pro Ceed!

Hey there! Appreciate your detailed response. Yeah, my Pro Ceed had a regular service done pretty recently; oiled up, filters changed, the usual drill. When I look at the odometer, it's sitting at about 67868 KM. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary during the service. Fuel filter issue seems like a probable cause. I've been thinking of taking it to the local garage this weekend and see what the mechanic says. Hopefully, it wouldn't cost me a bomb. Thanks again for taking the time to help me out!

Ah right, so you've done your regular upkeep and she's still giving you a hard time, eh? It's a proper head-scratcher! Like I mentioned before, the issues you're experiencing are likely fuel-related. As you’ve already changed the fuel filters, I would also consider checking fuel pump performance and checking if any fuel lines are clogged up. A blocked fuel line could reduce the amount of fuel getting to your engine, causing the kind of problems you're seeing. In your shoes, I'd definitely get it to the mechanic to diagnose. They'll probably run a diagnostic test or perform a pressure test on the fuel pump to determine if indeed there is an issue in your fuel system. Remember, no harm in asking for a quote first before you commit to any work. Keep us posted with what you find out, yeah? If it's a common issue, your experience could help other Pro Ceed owners on this forum. Cheers!

Couldn't agree more with you! Going to take your advice and check out the fuel pump and fuel lines before handing over my car to the local mechanic. Definitely going to ensure I get a quote before committing to any repair work. It's really great to have you guys around, handy tips and insights make the whole process a lot easier. I'll surely update on what goes down at the workshop. Wishing for all to turn out well! Cheers!
