Seeking Advice on 2017 Fiat Argo Power Loss, Unstable Idling, and Possible Tank Ventilation Issue
Summary of the thread
A 2017 Fiat Argo is experiencing power loss, unstable idling, jerking on acceleration, and random stalling, with the check engine light on. The issue might be related to the tank ventilation system, potentially causing an improper air-fuel mixture. A similar problem in a Fiat Punto was resolved by replacing cracked ventilation hoses. It is recommended to conduct a diagnostic check focusing on the fuel and air intake systems to identify and resolve the issue.

Hey there, thanks for sharing your experience. Regarding my Argo's maintenance history, I do a routine check every couple of months at my local workshop. My last service was actually not too long ago when the mileage was at 54430 km. I didn't notice anything unusual back then, so this issue kind of caught me off guard. Can't recall anything specific that might have led to this. Hope this helps and any further insight would be much appreciated. Cheers!

Hey! Thanks for getting back to me with those details. It kinda sounds familiar to what I went through - outta nowhere and yet, a total spanner in the works, right? The fact that your Argo has got routine maintenance and the issue suddenly popped up - this tells me it's less likely to be due to negligence. Doing a bit of a rewind, my issue with my Punto was due to a crack in one of the tanks ventilation hoses that cause it to suck in too much air. It messed up the mix of air and fuel which led to the engine acting all weird. From your description, I reckon your Argo is probably dealing with something along those lines. Maybe it's not exactly the tank ventilation system, could be something else in the fuel or air intake system giving you grief. Would suggest you take your Argo back to your workshop, have them run a diagnostic, maybe even get them to check the fuel and air intake systems for good measure. Hope this helps and fingers crossed you get it sorted fast. I know how bothersome it can be. Good luck, and keep us updated, aye?

Absolutely that sounds like a good plan. I'll take her in for a diagnostic and emphasize on checking the fuel and air intake systems. Fingers crossed it's an easy fix. I really appreciate the time you took to share all this info. It's been super insightful and has pointed me in the right direction. Suppose it's time for me to face the music at the workshop again. I'll keep you posted. Thanks a heap and cheers.

Hey there! I've got some experience under my belt with car issues, I'd say I'm somewhere in the middle in terms of auto knowledge. Just so happens, I had a strikingly similar issue on my 2015 Fiat Punto, also a Gasoline engine. It gave me quite a run-around, but in the end, it got sorted out at the local workshop. They ended up adding some new hoses if you can believe it! Cost me a cheeky 175 Euro, but hey, at least it got fixed. By any chance, do you have any additional info or maintenance history on the Argo? It'll just help me get better insight into the situation so that I could possibly help you out more. Cheers!
