Seeking Advice on 2018 Seat Tarraco Key Fob Issue Possibly Linked to Bumper Antenna

Hey folks, I've got a 2018 Seat Tarraco running on gasoline and I'm facing a strange issue with the key fob. My initial thought is that this might be due to a defective antenna in the bumper. Has anyone here experienced anything similar with this model? If yes, I'd appreciate any insights on how you diagnosed it and the solutions your workshop provided. Any shared experiences and tips would be massively helpful. Thanks in advance!

Hey there! Funny enough, I had a similar hassle with my 2016 Seat Leon a while back. I'm no car guru, but I know my way around the basics, you know? So, long story short - ended up with the same assumption as yours and took it down to my local workshop. And guess what? Turned out it was a defective cable connection to the bumper antenna. Paid a bit, 260 Euro to be precise, and had the folks there fix it up nice and quick. All good after that, no probs whatsoever. Before I go into more detail, I'd need to know a little more about your rig. Does the trouble with your key fob happen consistently or is it off and on? And does it happen everywhere, or just in certain areas? These could help pinpoint the issue better. Hope this helps at least a bit!

Oi! Thanks for the heads up! My Tarraco is sitting at 139557 KM. Lemme see... the problem with my key fob is quite inconsistent. Some days it works just like a charm, but then there are days where it's just a pain in the neck! And about the location thing, yeah it does seem to act up a little more when I'm at home. That was a good shout out! Haven't thought about it till now. But given what you've said here, reckon I should probably book it in for a service then? Cheers!

Hey, that inconsistency is a giveaway, isn't it? My Leon had the same roulettes going on. Also, considering your fob plays up more at home, there could be some radio frequency interference messing with the signal, as these key fobs work on RF. Booking a service is a wise decision. Ask the fellas if it could be due to some RF interference or even that cable issue I mentioned. It could be something even simpler, who knows, fob batteries do play up sometimes. Just hope you won't be kissing your hard-earned 260 Euro goodbye like I did. And do share the resolution afterwards, will ya? We learn a lot from these experiences, don't we? Good luck with that!

Hello again, never considered RF interference, you're a star! I'll make sure I bring that up when I take it in. And you bet, I'll share the resolution, will be glad if it helps someone out in the future. Hoping I won't have to part with my hard-earned cash as you did, fingers crossed! Thanks a ton for your insight, really appreciate it. Catch you around, cheers!
