Seeking Advice on 2020 Nissan Terrano Gasoline Model's Warning Light and System Readiness Check Issues

Hey there! I've got a 2020 Nissan Terrano Gasoline model and it's been acting a bit odd lately. I've noticed there's a warning light showing up in the speedometer, which has me worried. I've got a hunch it might have something to do with the system readiness check that hasn't been executed yet. Has anybody out there experienced something similar and could you share how you diagnosed and fixed the problem? Appreciate any pointers, especially your experiences from having it resolved at a workshop. Thanks, folks!

Summary of the thread

A 2020 Nissan Terrano Gasoline model is experiencing a warning light on the speedometer and reduced engine power. The issue may be linked to a system readiness check not being executed, possibly due to a recent battery disconnection affecting the car's computer. Suggested solutions include visiting a professional mechanic for a thorough check, including running a system readiness check and performing routine maintenance, especially since the vehicle is nearing 60,000 KM.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Hey there! I had a similar issue with my 2018 Nissan Qashqai, which is pretty close to your Terrano. I've got some experience when it comes to cars, not a mechanic but I can usually solve smaller issues by myself. My scenario was quite the same, a weird light on the dashboard that showed up after the battery was disconnected for some work. I took it down to my local garage. Turns out, if the battery's been recently replaced or disconnected, it can kinda mess with the car's computer and the system readiness check. Paid about 90 Euro to sort it out. They reconnected everything, ran some tests, and voila! Issue fixed. But hey, it might not be the same for you, each car's different, right? If you can tell me more about that warning light or if you've noticed any other issues, I might be able to help out more. Hope this helps you out! Don't stress too much, most of the time it's a simple fix. Good luck!

Thanks for your response! It was super insightful. You've got me wondering now if I'd disconnected my battery for any reason... although I can't remember doing so. About the warning light, it's not very specific. It lights up a few minutes when I start the car and doesn't go off. Also, along with that light, I've been experiencing reduced engine power, which is a bit concerning. I'll probably follow your advice and let a professional handle it. My Terrano just came up to its 55977 KM. I suppose its due to pay a garage a visit. Thanks again for your help and the reassurance. It's always good to have a general idea of the potential issue before I get to the workshop. Cheers!

Hey, no problem at all! I'm glad I could provide some insight. Hmm, the reduced engine power could be another clue. Sometimes, the engine power can be reduced when there's something off with the engine or transmission, as a sort of protective mechanism to prevent further damage. The non-specific light and reduced power combo do seem to point towards a potential issue under the hood. And considering your Terrano's nearing 60k KM, you're right on time for some fluid changes and normal wear-and-tear maintenance - oil, brake fluid, transmission fluid, etc. You know, the works. So yeah, might be a good idea to take it in for a check, especially with that warning light and reduced power issue. You might want to ask your mechanic to run the system readiness check while it's in for its maintenance. That way, you can catch two birds with one stone, so to speak! Hope you're able to get your Terrano back in top-notch shape soon. Give us a holler if you run into any more issues. Take it easy, and good luck at that workshop!

Hello, you're a godsend! Thanks again for dropping essential nuggets of wisdom. Reduced engine power as a protective measure is news to me, and it does make sense in my case. And yep, maintenance is due and I'll ask the mechanic to perform the system readiness check too, good shout. I'll make sure to keep you posted. Looks like my Terrano is going to get some serious pampering! You take it easy as well and will holler if I need more help. Off to the workshop now, fingers crossed. Cheers!
