Seeking Advice on 2021 Dacia Sandero Diesel: Check Engine Light, Drop in Power, and Potential Swirl Flap Control Error Issues

Hey! I've been having some trouble with my 2021 Dacia Sandero diesel. The check engine light's on, and there's a quite obvious loss of engine power, plus it's really unsteady, jerks when I accelerate, hisses loudly, and shakes when idling. I've been wondering if it's something to do with a Swirl flap control error in the intake manifold, but I'm not sure. Have any of you had similar issues and got it fixed? What exactly was the problem and how was your overall experience at the workshop? I appreciate any suggestions or advice you might have. Thanks!

Hey. I'm more of a DIY self-taught wrencher with some experience under my belt. I faced a similar problem with my 2019 Dacia Duster that turned out to be a defective switch in the intake manifold control. It went into my local garage, and they did a fabulous job diagnosing the problem. Had to cough up 465 Euro to get it fixed, but it was worth it; no more jerkiness or sounds from up front. Your symptoms do sound similar. It’s gonna be tricky to assess without all the necessary details though. Could you share a bit more about your car? Details like recent maintenance, mileage, or other symptoms, for instance? This’ll help paint a better picture of what could be going wrong. Hope to hear from you soon. Hang in there. Your baby will be back on track before you know it.

Hey there! My Sandero just passed the 38338 KM mark recently, and the last service was just a few thousand KMs ago. It regularly gets all the prescribed maintenance and inspections, so that's something I've got covered. But since the issue began about a week ago, there’s also been a delay in response when I'm shifting gears. Could it be related? Interestingly, fuel efficiency also seems to have taken a dip. I’ll appreciate your insights. Cheers!

Hey. Good to see you got your ride regularly serviced, that's crucial. The additional details you've provided here make it sound all the more like a possible intake manifold problem, maybe a swirl flap issue as you thought. The delay in gear response could be related. When your engine isn't breathing right, issues with acceleration and response times can crop up. Also, intake manifold issues can sometimes lead to fuel being delivered inefficiently, which might explain the fuel efficiency drop. Although I can't provide a 100% certain diagnosis, I think your suspicions are on target. I'd recommend getting your Sandero to a trusty mechanic for a complete check-up. Better to be safe than sorry, right? Keep us updated on what you find out! Don't stress too much, things like this are part and parcel of car ownership. Good luck, and finger's crossed for it not being a major issue!

Sure thing. Based on your advice and my little instinct, I reckon the intake manifold's indeed the culprit. I’m heading over to my dependable mechanic tomorrow morning for a thorough scan and possible fix. Let’s hope it's nothing big, and the good old Sandero will be back to its jolly old self soon. Will update you on the situation once it's sorted out. Thanks again for lending your ear. Cross your fingers for me, lads!
